The Dottie
Blanchard Spirit Award, or "Dottie" was created
to keep alive the memory of one of the industry’s brightest
stars. Dottie lost her life suddenly as the result of a tragic
car accident on her way to teach at Summer Balloon Camp 2003.
The industry lost a committed, dedicated and loving person.
This award honors others who have shown the same spirit while
working in the balloon industry. |
| The "Dottie"
is presented yearly at Summer Balloon Camp® to a person
who has a genuine love of the industry and embraces the spirit
of Dottie Blanchard. The recipient will be someone who willingly,
with dedication and enthusiasm, unselfishly gives everything
they have to better the industry and help individuals grow and
prosper. |

| Nominations
are open to all people within the industry…manufacturers,
distributors, decorators, twisters and others working
to help the industry grow. Nominations will be taken from
all individuals actively working in the industry. A simple
description (300 word maximum) of why the individual being
nominated should receive the award can be sent to the
Balloon Camp office prior to June 1st of each year.
A panel of six (6) will review the
nominations, prior to each year’s “Camp”
and select a recipient. The panel will be comprised
of one (1) Balloon Camp producer, a manufacturer, a
distributor, one (1) balloon artist, an industry leader
from any one of several sources and Judy Gorman who
was Dottie’s partner. The panel will change each
year, to keep the award industry wide. |
